Ratio; a comparison of two numbers by division
34:100 34/100 34 out of 100 34 per 100 = 34%
When you compare a number to 100 it can be written as a %

8/20 = 40/100 = 40% (multiply both numerator and denominator by 5 to equal 100)
$18.95 out of 100 = 18.95%
percent as a fraction 78% = 78/100 = 39/50
46.5% = 46.5/100 = 465/1000 = 93/200
